They‘ve been doing a lot of research on mental health due to their long and dark Winters. I bet people would be happier everywhere if we put a higher priority on happiness. It‘s not a metric billion dollar companies seem to value.
All five Nordic countries are in the top six
Also among the least religious in the world! Maybe religion isn’t really helping?
In fourth place is Costa Rica
Congratulations to Costa Rica, a surprising mix with a country that is very different than the other countries in the top.
PS:
The reason USA isn’t in the top, is probably that they are so goddam tired of winning.Generally it‘s probably not a good idea to tie this to a single metric but religion could be a part of it. I would guess a strong social state is the bigger factor however. Perhaps all these things go hand in hand.
All the Nordics and Costa Rica are strong welfare states which lets people live more freely as they know there is a security net to cover your basic needs if things go south.

Israel is in 8th place and very religious. It seems to me to be a combination of having a strong welfare state. What is intressting is that Costa Rica is that no country is really strong in every parameter. Many of the Nordic countries seem to be about the least willing to help strangers for example.
Israel absolutely isn’t in 8th place. If we counted the responses from all the territories they occupied, it’d be dead last.
The occupied territory has a population of 5.5million, while Israel itself has one of 10million. At the same time there are countries like Sudan. I doubt it is dead last.
Counting their occupied territories legitimizes their imperialism, though.
Israel is also in the top 10. It has a quite religious population.
Dense social networks with high social trust make people happy :)
Just a matter of time until other countries successfully copy this social model
