4·2 days agoThis quote you posted says westerners only want firm tofu and no other types of tofu, not that they’re the only ones who want firm tofu.

Technology@lemmy.world•France bids to suspend Shein over childlike sex dollsEnglish
32·5 days agoIf children sex dolls are readily available it risks normalizing the concept of sex with children. Both for potential pedophiles as well as children who browse shein, might get the impression that adults having sex with children is a thing.

1·6 days agoIf you have someone close you can trust there is probably a way to add a kiosk mode to your app and let the friend keep the password to unlock it. It could have roles about what apps, websites etc are allowed and hours.
I did very little research in it to help my brother out but I didn’t get far. I got the feeling that it’s doable even on a locked bootloader. Sorry that I don’t have more info but maybe it can set you off on the right direction.

memes@lemmy.world•Hydrogen Direct Reduction ❌ EVs Powered by Fossil Fuels ✅English
2·7 days agoToday, yes. And especially the shape of it. Just like with LLM the problem would be a lot smaller if it was done in moderation, withethical practices and the lives and well-being of those involved in mind.
Both meat and LLMs have use cases, and both needs to tone down on the shitty practices and world destroying emissions.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is something society treats as normal that you secretly think is completely insane?English
84·9 days agoCreating, torturing, slaughtering animals and stealing their young so that we can harvest their previous milk - all done in the most gruesome industrial ways just to be able to eat and wear parts of their bodies when there are completely functioning alternatives.
And it’s just normal to partake in it

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is something society treats as normal that you secretly think is completely insane?English
3·9 days agoI get this, most people don’t care about intangible things that don’t have a clear and immediate impact. Like digital privacy or climate change.
If someone is invading their physical privacy it feels more urgent and real. And tbf, most people live their entire lives without noticing consequences of lack of digital privacy.

Someone posts an article, someone else enjoys it and tells them not to get discouraged by the crowd that doesn’t like the content and gets downvoted?
Afaik luddite is not an insult but maybe I’m wrong. Anyhow I feel a vocal section of the anti llm crew are just looking to discourage anyone who’s not aligning 100% with their battle.

1·10 days agoI’m a software engineer and picked up the ukulele because on of my kid was gifted one. When I feel tired or burnt I sit down and play a few songs and it actually gives me energy. I did play a bit of guitar in school so that helped me get going I guess.
I now have three ukuleles and a mini bass.

Privacy@lemmy.world•I traced $2 billion in nonprofit grants and 45 states of lobbying records to figure out who's behind the age verification billsEnglish
3·10 days agoThis kind of post would be much more useful than the ai slop one.
Saying that people should be careful around this data because there’s a risk the author doesn’t doesn’t know what they’re doing would be a helpful comment.
I’m a vegan myself so was just trying put myself in the ai haters shoes. I really think enslaving animals is horrible but when I talk about it I try to do it in a way that can make a difference rather than make meat eaters hostile/annoyed/guilty etc.

Privacy@lemmy.world•I traced $2 billion in nonprofit grants and 45 states of lobbying records to figure out who's behind the age verification billsEnglish
195·11 days agoI totally understand where anti AI purists are coming from but it’s getting silly how every post that has any connection to LLMs get this, no matter what they achieved.
It’s like if vegans were to post negative comments on recipes or anything remotely connected to dairy or written by meat eaters even. I’m sure there are some who do, but IMO that’s pretty obnoxious.

Mongoose solves the schema part, or typegoose is you want it to generate types on the go as well.
My problem with mongo is that I always end up realising the advantages of SQL down the line, but I guess many of those projects wouldn’t have gotten that far without mongo being so damn nice in the beginning.
