The kids of the youngest gen x/oldest millennials are super lucky though, I have two coworkers in that category and they’re paying for cars, rent, living expenses, and are taking on the school debt for their adult kids (who have graduated college and are currently working).

I think this might be necessary now to give your kids a good chance, but there’s no way my parents could have bought a car for me and each of my siblings, let alone pay for college and rent through our twenties. Expectations for what the parents are responsible for has shifted drastically.

Less of a bot problem, more influence over the features added, no ads, no dealing with mergers or shareholders or ceos, anyone can build software to interact with it, code is open source and auditable, if you don’t want to deal with moderators you can self host. A lot of people left reddit because reddit was acting like a bully.

I hope more people join so that niche communities can form but I’m happy to make do with less people for the time being.

Same with immigration. Huge unprecedented opportunity to coordinate climate migration before it displaces a ton of people. Typically mass migrations lead to war and conflict for obvious reasons. We could be getting ahead of it this time, and many of us will be the immigrants in the scenario so we all have a vested interest in supporting flexible and dignified migration networks. But alas.

Well written article. Sad they plan to let down their voters on a direct ballot initiative with such broad support and quite clear intent, and cowardly to try to pass it off as “tweaks” to the original bill.
