I had no idea who Jesse Kelly is. Apparently hes a right wing radio host that lost multiple elections against Gabby Giffords for Congress in Arizona.
So a GOP radio host lacking empathy is right on brand.

Religious people need religion to tell them how to feel and act.

Considering how much western religious people are conservative and love destroying the environment, forget what was God’s first commandment: Genesis 2:15 The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.
I however, give you Genesis 1:28: ‘And God blessed them, and God said unto them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.”’
Combine this with the Revelation, wherein Jesus shall return and build the perfect Kingdom of Heaven on Earth, and you can see where a lot of more apocalyptic, “what does it matter” Christianity comes from really easily.

That is still a clear call for sustainability.
And even if it wasn’t. if you believe god created the world, then the world should be considered the holiest of artifacts.
I don’t need God to feel compassion for other sentient beings, nor to feel shame and anger when the innocent are left to die.
I’m pretty sure that’s the case for most morally normal people.
TBH the exceptions are usually people who are convinced that a) there is a God, and b) God is on their side
