Disagree. The frustration caused to individuals looking for an answer far outweighs the utterly inconsequential reduction in Reddit’s “value” by removing the comment. Burning your Reddit history is performative nonsense that only causes problems for frustrated individuals.

  • The default behavior of the Deck in game mode is to output a native resolution signal to the monitor but still run games at 1280x800 and upscale with FSR.

You can alter the resolution the games will run in via the properties for each game. Naturally what resolution you can run a game well at is going to vary wildly by game.

In desktop mode it will behave more like a normal PC and just output at the resolution you select just like on any other desktop PC.

  • Yeah, agree that choosing the same distro again was kind of silly, but understand wanting to give it a second try. I was also disappointed by the decision though.

Was glad to see Luke choose CachyOS. I slapped it on a small gaming machine a couple of months ago and have been quite happy with it.

You’re looking at about a half hour per kilogram of copper to raise it by 50 °C with 100W of heat.

Actual delta from ambient to thermal limit will typically be a little higher than that, but so is processor wattage on mid-to-high performance CPUs, so I’m happy enough with that as a ballpark estimate.

Someone else estimated that block as 4.5kg, so you’ve got something close to two and a half hours of cooling from an ambient start.
