What sketchy ass VPN’s have you been using?
Get something from a well known provider like Proton, iVPN, or Mullvad.

Technology@lemmy.world•We messed up with the Windows 12 article. What we got wrong and how it happenedEnglish
4·14 days agoYou are playing it on hardware that’s 10 years newer than the game was designed for. That mod even lists SSD as the primary reason for the advancement, with it not making much difference running on an HDD.
Sounds like a great mod for today’s equipment though.
Here’s someone that solved this by monitoring the directory using inotifywait, but based on the restrictions you already mentioned I’m assuming you can’t install packages or set up root daemons, correct?

DVD players used to be (probably still are?) region locked, and those didn’t require internet service either. The region was either hard coded or could only be changed like 5 times.
It was an attempt to enforce geographic licensing fees and stop piracy.
They probably don’t fit on the car wash tracks.
If you don’t know how to use it then you still get a small home in a gated community.

Not The Onion@lemmy.world•Small business owners say Amazon is selling their products without permissionEnglish
7·1 month agoRestaurants absolutely did and do have a problem with that, and I question the authority with which you state that there are no appreciable monetary damages from amazon denying a small business additional sales opportunities.
If you’re doing that you have zero need to bow to any single credit card company.
I don’t even read 90% of the credit card offers I get, I have plenty of cards, and they are all at zero. Go ahead, cancel me. I’ll have a new one in 15 minutes.
That spam is sliced in half.
There are two of these heathens.
DDR4 laptop RAM hasn’t been hit quite as hard, a 16GB will set you back about $100-120
Yes, in fact that’s on the cheap side for unlimited with decent speeds for both services.

3·3 months agoI wasn’t sure what you were trying to get access to, I had assumed internet.
I didn’t think internet counted as a public service, but I could be wrong there too.

I wonder if your address is blacklisted from a previous user for some reason.

12·4 months agoI don’t have first hand experience, but I think NYC and possibly some other large US cities do actually operate on a steam network. It’s not a closed loop hot water system like I have in my house, from what I understand you purchase hot steam like you would buy electricity.
Take all of that with a grain of salt until someone that knows more can chime in.

7·4 months agoI remember the first time I learned that this was not universal; I was in my late teens and installing a set of fancy Italian speakers where that precision mattered quite a bit. I feel like maybe that should be at least a mention in math class here in America.
