and how do you know what you’re spouting isn’t propaganda?

Yeah still super buggy for sure. When you swap users, you have to force close the app and reopen for it to actually swap properly.
Worth noting that the Jerboa app pushed a major update today and it’s massively improved. Definitely suggest giving it another try after today, it feels like an entirely new app.

Technology@beehaw.org•Unclassified FBI Document: Ability to legally access Secure Messaging App Content and Metadata (January 2021)English
3·3 years agoI believe Matrix has the same encryption as Signal. Though there are some things that leak metadata, like reactions for some reason. Would like an investigation into it as well, as I pretty frequently use it. Obviously this is assuming it’s an encrypted chat. Though would also like to see the comparison of an invite only encrypted room, vs a public joinable encrypted room.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•People around the world, do you drink tap water without boiling?English
4·3 years agoDamn that sounds so time consuming. In most of the US where I’m from, water is treated really well and can just be drank straight from tap safely. I put my water in a brita to filter it so it’s a bit more pure, and it also tastes better. Some nicer fridges with have a water filter in the front door, so you just press your glass against it and it fills it with perfect water. Also they usually have a button to dispense ice cubes. I never realized how nice I have it compared to the rest of the world lol.
Oh this seems a bit confusing. If I swap to New, or Top (Day), it gives me recent stuff. I guess Hot and Active algorithms pull from a long time period for some reason, maybe it’s a problem with the algorithm since I know Reddit’s algo heavily deranks results after a certain age of time.

Meta (lemm.ee)@lemm.ee•There is currently a huge wave of automated spambot sign-ups on other Lemmy instances. This post explains how lemm.ee will respond.English
9·3 years agoCompletely unrelated, but lemmys.ee would be a great instance domain name.
Sojourn@geddit.socialto/kbin meta@kbin.social•YSK adding tags will make your posts more discoverable on the wider Fediverse
2·3 years agoThe mastodon fedi would cry over what you’re saying, but yes we really need suggestion algos in the fedi for it to be successful.

Reddit Migration@kbin.social•Reddit's response about the actions they took against the subreddits (note: r/mildly interesting DID NOT encourage nsfw content and their suspensions and removal have been revoked by a diff admin)
4·3 years agoThe sad part was when some redditors thought spez was cool or “like them” lol
If you think an ad-pocalypse is bad, then why would they jump to a platform with no ads at all? They’d likely be paying to be on that platform. Also the fact streaming video from a self hosting platform is much more demanding then text fedi instances like Lemmy or Mastodon. Also no way the fedi could keep up with even a fraction of YouTube’s creator tools, or their audience which is their bottom line.
YouTube will probably never be replaced. We can at least go for private front ends like Invidious.

Reddit Migration@kbin.social•The best way to protest against reddit is simply to not interact with Reddit
4·3 years agoI don’t care about protesting, it doesn’t work. For me, stopping reddit means to stop opening it out of habit. I find myself automatically opening social media out of habit. So instead of having Reddit be that habit response, I’m training myself to replace it with Mastodon and Lemmy. It’s a bit hard since I’m missing a lot content, but it’s significantly easier then during the Twitter migration.

Reddit Migration@kbin.social•I don't understand why people still want to use reddit instead of moving to Lemmy or Kbin
3·3 years agoBecause it still lacks content, is pretty unpolished, and the nature of fedi makes it complicated for a lot of people. That’s a lot of barriers, so it’s going to be a slow growth from here while these issues get worked on.

Apparently liking worker rights and to reduce wealth equality means you’re a full blown CCP worshipper. I just want to be paid a livable wage and have better human rights dude.
