Eh. My Prius is almost 20 years old. I’d rather keep driving it than buy a new vehicle, even if the new vehicle took less resources to produce. I’m well past the break-even point.
Your comment on funerals reminds me of my mother yelling at me for crying over my grandpa’s death (the first death I experienced as an adult/college student). She told me “Why are you so upset‽ You’ve been to church more recently than I have!”
Anyways, that thought lives rent-free in my head, even though I no longer speak with my mother.
(mini rant: she gave me exactly as much space to feel my feelings when my own dad died more recently. Yes, she sucks.)
My grandma’s funeral was not a sad occasion. She’d lived a long life and died very demented, so there was a bit of sadness, but mostly those feelings had been dealt with over the years as her mind changed. The primary feeling seemed to be relief. The sermon was very “we’re not burying her, we’re planting her, rejoice for she will be reborn” and I wanted to throttle the preacher because he said nothing specific to my grandma, it was very generic. My main feeling at the funeral was stress from navigating the disfunctional relationships of family members I hardly knew.
Underjoke: the girlfriend is also autistic, and doesn’t make eye contact.

Prepaid cards have numbers that identify them.
Which, btw, makes perfect sense. As a shop that takes credit cards, I would want to know if someone has signed up for a subscription service with a prepaid card, since the card may run out, prematurely cancelling the service.
There’s a big database at the backend of the credit card processor that keeps track of all this stuff. The shop can tell a lot about you based on your card number.
Could visit a thrift store and see if you find any good materials. Dissect a plushie or look at the blankets and throw pillows for materials.

tbh, it probably also benefitted the teacher because they didn’t need to grade as many papers and may have benefitted the other students because they may have gotten more targeted feedback on their homework (because the teacher had more time)
Just toss on a dress and go commando. No need to remove the shoes.

We had a medical scare just yesterday. I was in the ER for 8 hours with my partner over a non-life-threatening but still emergency problem.
An ultrasound, cat scan, and much poking and prodding later, we still don’t know what is up. The AI was at least able to predict next steps (if A then discharge and follow up with PCP, if B then surgery this week, if C then emergency surgery), something the ER was too busy to do for several hours. It was reassuring. The AI also gave me (working) links to more thorough resources on the topic.

I love nano. I used to do tech support for a Linux-based content management system (before SAaS take took off)… The customer sysadmins were sometimes whichever engineer was volun-told to do it, so competency varied wildly.
I helped mostly with installs. This might be the poor newbie sysadmin’s first time on the command line. Nano was my go-to suggestion for editing config files–all the commands are right there! Much less intimidating than vi or emacs for a newbie.
Well, you see, “anything” is very broad and could include removal of a finger or two. Specificity is good when defining boundaries.
I’m hesitant to get an electric vehicle because I don’t currently have anywhere to charge near my condo. My condo parking spot isn’t near a building, so it would probably be a pain to charge from there. I’d be interested if my office had some charging stations.
Until then, I’m quite happy with my old Prius. It goes, stops, and steers as needed, no complaints. Catalytic converter has only been stolen once.

Currently two doses of the MMR vaccine in childhood are recommended in the US, as of 1989 iirc. I got a fresh dose recently as an adult because I knew I’d had the first MMR shot but wasn’t sure about the second, plus I really don’t want measles. The pharmacy didn’t give any pushback when I asked for the shot.

Erin in the Morning is a reputable source, too. That blog has been sharing trans girl scout cookies for years.

I get you. The person you responded to talked about “the plastic one” and meant the old style non-milk plastic one, but the milk plastic one is also a “plastic one”. It was a tad unclear.

Yep. Good news on that front: libraries I’ve worked at just don’t keep records of what you’ve checked out after you’ve returned it, unless there was some sort of fine or something. Can’t give up data you don’t have and if the library avoids storing the data for anyone then it’s hard to accuse the library of selectively hiding data.
Slrpnk was down for a few days and the admin was super transparent about what was going on (iirc, they were on a business trip and something happened to their home server that needed a physical button press). I was happy with that level of communication, and occasional down time is good for getting out and touching grass.
edit: I was on sdf before, but they’re a lot less transparent about maintenance issues.
TBF, Netflix did stop sending movies by mail.

I’ve had a borked knee before. Sometimes you start the shopping trip and feel fine, but by the time you’ve covered half your list you’re leaning heavily on that shopping cart for support.
I’m lucky my partner was always able to return the cart for me because I’m not sure I could have made it back to the car after returning the cart to the cart stand.
I remember reading that some folks (actresses, models) would get vaccinated in less conspicuous places, like the inner thigh, but now I can’t find any documentation for it.
