  • there isn’t a single family member of mine that is a leftist. i am, quite literally, the only one and i know for a fact. it’s very isolating but is why i do not speak to anyone aside from my mother. my very large family on both sides are a mixture of Democrat and Republican, but they are all ignorant, bigoted, and uneducated in the same ways. it’s astonishing how i dislike my mother’s side for their own reasons and my father’s side for their own reasons but they overlap in oppression and systemic failure. both sides worship capitalism, religion, and the flag. even my cousins who are “more progressive” really aren’t. they simply don’t care if you’re LGB(T maybe) and they aren’t outwardly racist. not much better lol.

it’s depressing to have 28 or so family members you have extremely little to nothing in common with not because your interests are so different, but your morals often lie in opposition. i can’t look past that nor should i. my lines are to be respected if i respect myself. i do wish any of them saw reason though.

  • i mean, it is lol. this is a true statement if you remove “capitalism” from the concept of pursuing profit above all else. that isn’t just capitalism but it is a primary way to execute it. mercantilism and feudalism practically laid the groundwork for capitalism, so the concept of malicious greed existed way before.

most social problems can be traced back to the pursuit of wealth, yes.

  • again, it’s different if the person is visibly doing harm based on their work or because of it. yeah it’d make sense to cut support. but we’re not talking specifically about people like Rowling, the question is about “bad people” which is a spectrum. an artist you like is probably racist due to certain things uncovered? okay you can stop listening to them but there are 12 other artists you like who are racist and you don’t even know, and let’s say one of those 12 created something instrumental in your life that defined your own love of art. now what?

  • it’s because every single person involved is a committed liar. people who play the literal game of politics do not have actual principles tied to their morality no matter how loudly they claim otherwise. time and time again politicians and their cabinet members will “take a stand” only to some time later completely abandon that stand if it clashes with their ultimate goal of power, money, and relevancy. right now is the perfect time for this subhuman scumbag to criticize Trump, because it makes him look like not-a-fascist even though he is. he will say whatever is necessary to remain one step ahead.
