i don’t know, i just noticed my volume control applet pavucontrol switched to GTK 4 when i updated to debian 13 recently and now it uses more resources than your typical shitty electron app (a volume slider!) and won’t respect my system theme.

this has been the trend for a lot of software on linux, both GTK and to an extent Qt with stuff like kirigami and i’m liking my overall experience with desktop linux a lot less than i used to because of it.

any time i try a new QML or GTK 4 program it uses just as much if not more resources than its electron counterpart, and looks just as inconsistent with the rest of my desktop while doing it. the line between a shitty web app and a shitty native app has been blurred out of existence.

Literally nobody said this. My whole point is that equality isn’t achieved by “applying the same rules equally” (as the person I responded to said) to people who aren’t on an equal playing field.

You don’t solve inequality by giving both those who have less and those who have more the same amount. That just maintains the status quo.

men are not actively threatened by violence, nor are men a disadvantaged and underrepresented group in multiple fields that have historically discouraged them the way women are. as long as men maintain the dominant role in society, men entering women’s spaces designed to lift women up only serves to prevent progress toward equality.
