No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Not looking for how to meth. But is not a moonshiners still about as dangerous as a meth house exploding? What the difference?English
2·7 days agoI’d say the presence of, non law abiding humans, is also a factor when talking illegally manufactured alchohol as well. But yeah the additional toxins etc… is a much bigger factor in meth rather than alchohol.
Also western propaganda. Russia isnt ‘taking’ anything theyre liberating Ukrainians who have been under the rule of an illegitimate empire installed government since 2014 and have already voiced they want to be closer to russia
Ah yes good old liberating the people, kind of like when Iraq and Venuzuela hailed the united states as liberators,
best I’m finding on that polling is https://www.kiis.com.ua/?lang=eng&cat=reports&id=236
To which, almost 70% supported open borders and friendly relations with russia, with absolute seperation and complete mergers both being under 15%.
Also if they wanted to just let russia have ukraine why haven’t they done another revolution like they did their pro russian leader that tore up the EU negotiations they had.
North korea can be propogandized like crazy because… unfortunately one of it’s defining traits is preventing it’s people from talking to the world. Ukranians seem pretty darn determined not to be “liberated”. Hell I’d imagine the war would be over pretty darn fast if the ukranians wanted it. White flags, surrender, get captured to protect themselves if their government is making them fight by intimidation.
Pretty big chunk of rare earth minerals.
Yeah the big thing to me is the problem of the invader. Honestly on the grand scheme of things I dont’ care who does what… but what really needs to happen is, people need to stop going on the offense. US, Isreal and Russia are currently all the ones leading attacks in other people’s territory.
I’m happy for China in their "my way works, watch me sit back and show you how successful I can be in normal peacetime. When a nation has to raid other nations for their resources or land, that’s IMO demonstrating what you have is unsustainable.
Ukrain take or leave it’s intentions how good or bad it is. what’s clear is showing the idea that russia can just take it, is in itself a bigger problem. Just like Iran, I have zero sympathy for the government of Iran, I consider them barbaric and horrible. That being said directly attacking them, is a horrible action.

3·9 days agoThat’s still the thing though, yes both of those are factors, but at least in cases of NSFW content being posted to a non NSFW subreddit, the users and mods can tell at first sight of the content, that it doesn’t belong. while a large portion of illegal NSFW content, is very difficult to distinguish from legal NSFW content.

Chat@beehaw.org•Returning to beehaw in what feels like ages.English
2·9 days agoyes but it’s more obvious in other instances. IE much easier to tell naked or non naked rather than 17 or 20, or someone posting image of themselves vs someone sending something their ex sent to them before their breakup.

Chat@beehaw.org•Returning to beehaw in what feels like ages.English
3·9 days agoNo expert but things being NSFW isn’t the greatest moderation threat to, well NSFW stuff. It’s the ability to respond quickly when not legal in most countries images are posted. IE particularly age or willingness of the participants.
Mainly because they’ve done better at it than the big tech forums have. Bottom line social media is in absurdly hard category for anyone to break into once someone else has a grip. Not sure if you remember google’s huge flop when they tried to step in facebooks terf with google plus (Which I do have to say, from a design and functionality level, was a decade ahead of facebook, but google’s attempt to shove it down everyone’s throats, was horrendous).
Bottom line, if you don’t care about who’s running it, the best social media platform, is the one that everyone’s already using. The existing company has to REALLY fsck it up big time to actually lose that advantage, and the competition has to, at least appear to be a trustworthy company. MS, Google, Facebook etc… would not have a good trust factor if they were to try to make a reddit like website, and reddit’s just not done enough to scare off the common users to leave a power vaccume that will draw an audience bigger than say what we have here on lemmy.

News@lemmy.world•I Wrote a Movie Review. Cops Took It From A Protester’s Home to Make the Case That He’s a Terrorist.English
54·11 days agoJesus, what’s next.
You didn’t give passion of the Christ 5 stars, you must not be a true American.
Top it off though, it’s fricking insane that say, supporting feminism is fair to show motive and intent. Meanwhile didn’t rittenhouse have like major tweets basically saying that he was hoping for a chance to shoot some protestors, before crossing state lines and shooting some protestors, and the court ruled his public statements would unfairly bias the jury or some nonsense?
I mean it’s a grey area there… I think the overall propoganda created after vietnam (Rambo movies etc…), helped people learn to seperate and understand that a war can be wrong, and the soldiers can be good people serving their country.
IE maybe it’s the bubbles I live in, and most these memories are pre-trump, but I heard no shortage of people that could go off for hours on how horrible the war on terror was, how stupid and monsterous bush was to send so many to kill and be killed, and still go out of their way to say “thank you for your service” to men coming back from iraq.

174·13 days agoWhy do you think some of the most advertised things are… predatory loans and gambling.
Honestly for me the worse of it is, basically on linkedin and similar, people pretending to be recruiters, opening with a fake job posting and asking for your resume, then to follow it up with "Hey you know I don’t think this resume is going to get by, can I put you in contact with my resume company, they will sharpen up your resume for $300. Umm… so yeah, don’t know if you guessed this, but I have no clue when my next paycheck is coming in, this isn’t the time to ask me to drop a large amount of money on something that may not do anything.

politics @lemmy.world•US military spent $9 million on crab legs and lobster in the months before Iran war: reportEnglish
3·13 days agoWould say overall the point is… they aren’t more expensive than regular food, depending on your situation etc… Key thing is crab legs and lobster tails, aren’t generally a huge price point beyond other things… and the joke, is of course that someone using their 200 a month and getting something moderately paletable, while a small group of cabinet members are literally spending more than… well more than a states worth of food stamp recipients get total.

politics @lemmy.world•US military spent $9 million on crab legs and lobster in the months before Iran war: reportEnglish
40·14 days agoSure, but did you think about the fact that food stamp recepiants could legally buy frozen lobster tail if they hoose to use all of their food stamps on it?, there’s at least one documented case of someone actually doing it too so, it’s a serious problem and justified cutting off half the country from food stamps to keep the epstien files from releasing.

Honestly I can’t disagree. Trumps behavior is american conservatism going back to Nixon/Reagan probably further. The biggest difference is as society advanced. Conservatives had to water things down, find convoluted excuses to do these things. Trump just goes out and does it all. Doesn’t even try to mask it “oh yeah we’re attacking because we want the oil”.
