The sideloading you are talking about is installing apks this is where you download a software update zip file and then sideload the update to the device to either upgrade or downgrade the os. This also has nothing to do with Google as their phones still have this capability

Yea kinda but look at apple. There has never been any freedom to do what you want with their phones and people have loved them. While you and I as enthusiasts may move to another platform because of stuff like this most people don’t even know about it.

So that’s not true like every other “new” (since the late 2000s at least) car there is a tow hook in the truck that screws in somewhere behind a plastic flap on the bumper. Tow truck drivers have had decades to learn but they refuse to listen. I have had a lot of experience being towed(grew up and still have older cars) and when I tell them where to hook up it’s a 20-30 minute conversation for me to try and convince them to not absolutely destroy my suspension because I don’t want to spend my time changing working parts and aligning a car I have already aligned. Sometimes that conversation doesn’t work and I just have to have them leave and call AAA again and hope someone else comes.

How are they money grabs? Fortnite and valorant(only 2 games I can think of that are / are going to do this) are completely free with the option to buy cosmetics that don’t help you in anyway competitively.

I personally don’t because while I switched to Linux because Windows got too shit I am the only person I know who did that. No one else has switched at all and I still have to go back to it to use it for things that I can’t do on Linux or don’t work nearly as well. So I would much rather use Discord in its current state not with the dumb age verification thing with the people I currently use it with. I would love for there to be a popular alternative that is actually good but I don’t know of one.

It’s not really complicated at all you just download the tailscale app make an account and then hit share to your friends. That’s how I run a Minecraft server for me and my friends because I was too lazy to figure out how to port forward. It was easier to just sudo apt install tailscale and essentially be done.

Just use tailscale and don’t forward any ports and you’ll be fine
