  • There is the cool idea of showing how different dimensions, in our situation where fully visualizing a fourth dimension is fundamentally impossible, could potentially look. Like, yes this is obviously not going to show us a fourth dimension but looking at how a 2D plane can actually be a 3D space if you have the capacity to see it is kinda neat. It’s as close as most people are going to get to visualizing a fourth dimension.

You’re so focused on how this isn’t a literal representation of something fundamentally impossible to represent that you forgot to exercise your imagination even a little bit.

As a Canadian(and not the guy you replied to) I can pretty comfortably say that I don’t trust the US at all and “the vast majority” is not nearly good enough. Thank goodness I’m not a person of colour because it’s wild how frequently people will shot those folks through their door for the crime of knocking on it.

    Fuck the US.

More reasons to build interconnected walking neighbourhoods with car parking, if even needed, out of the way. For some reason we’re so obessessed with cars that we’d rather our frint yard be half pavement and looking onto a road than walking even a small distance to a more predictable parking area where kids are less likely to randomly appear.

Not so fun fact: Parents run over their own children in their own driveways at an alarming rate and still we do nothing about it in the US and Canada because we literally hold the car so far above the safety of our living children that it must not suffer any inconvience, no matter the cost.

Who’s talking about scales of human life? He wanted to know if one could just keep scaling planes and what that would require, and since no else had said anything I gave what answer I could which did contain some helpful information on that subject.

Nothing in the world really works at infinite scale because the size of atoms doesn’t change. In order for something to scale infinitely it also needs the environment in which it’s found to scale along with it.

Fun fact, the reason bees can fly is because, at their scale, the air is so thick that they’re actually doing something closer to swimming through it. A plane 6x as big would be, conversely, flying through incredibly thin air from its perspective.

  • The fact that another car is present but I would never say that it makes them more visible. I can’t see the road, can’t see the car producing all the light, can’t see pedestrians like you say, can’t see fuckin’ anything. Never have I had a set of oncoming headlights that drowns out literally all other things in my vision and thought “wow, things are safer now.”

  • Not just brodozers, I swear headlights are just never adjusted as part of PDI. My grandmothers highlander has them lighting everything from the road to the forest beside the highway to the people in front of the fucking thing to even the driver who looked at the reflective speed limit sign only to have that shit go straight back into their eyeballs.

My car’s headlights are simple halogen bulbs, not LEDs, and I have a manual adjustment dial which I keep quite low. I even adjusted it all myself so it’s good no matter where I put it. It’s just a BRZ so it wasn’t blinding anyone anyway but holy fuck, not that hard.

  • Not a single fucking person is suggesting that if a woman walks into a waiting rooms screaming about ants under her skin who are telling her to put babies in fires everyone needs to stop everything to immediately tell her she’s right and good and not argue even a little bit. Stop trying to act clever by deliberately misunderstanding something and being the dumvest person in the room, it’s embarrassing.

It’s like the fuckheads who think being against car-centric infrastructure means wanting to put a stick of dynamite in every car ever and not knowing that farmers exist. It adds less than nothing to the conversation and just makes you look stupid as hell.

  • What a wonderfully privileged life you must lead. You do know that he and his party have caused the mass suffering of untold millions and much of it simply for the sake of cruelty so that they can make “others” for their rabid voter base to hate on? The damage he and the conservatives across the globe have done just for the sake of getting slightly more power than yesterday so they never need to worry about the humanity of the people they hurt is immense in a way could never be calculated.

If you don’t wish at least just Trump a miserable death then you don’t stand for fuck-all of anything.

  • That’s one extreme way to take the comment, I guess. I worked from home for a while and I think these return to office orders are stupid as hell, largely because going to the office needs unpaid commuting time, annoyances related to needing to bring a lunch, and it takes away your ability to do small chores and stuff during the work day that might be often impossible during the evening for one reason or another.

Look, if you want to work at the beach or whatever then go for it, but the idea that California is the “envy of nations” because people can do labour at a beach is insanity.

  • You miss the fact that conservatives, nearly universally, do not accept that any of their situation is their own fault(sounds strange when us on the left will blame capitalism and the elite for most of the problems in the world, but we also come with petabytes of receipts and the right is allergic to facts). Many of them who live deeper in poverty are also living in cheaper areas, too, and have already cognitive-dissonanced themselves out of needing to worry about paying for things like health insurance(especially since many benefit from public healthcare systems, even in the US).

Now, the other important thing to remember is that conservative said those things. That’s crucial because it means that they aren’t talking to their voting base which is cool and tough and good with money, they’re talking to the other guys who need to get their shit together. If their guy does it then there must be a reason and if their enemy does it then there must’ve not been a reason, except they don’t base that on anything real like who’s actually done the research and shown their work.

Conservatives, no matter where you find them, are inherently anti-social power-seekers who refuse to take true responsibility for their actions. Whenever someone I know moves away from conservatism it is around the time they also, for whatever reason, begin to finally understand that the rich don’t actually love them and that maybe they actually do want to have real friends who aren’t also just other hateful goons, afterall.
