“Net overseas migration was 306,000 in 2024-25, down from 429,000 a year earlier. Migrant arrivals decreased 14% to 568,000 from 661,000 arrivals a year earlier.”

4·13 days agoOne of my all time favourite electronic albums. It dropped when dubstep was becoming very formulaic and bland and took the genre and pushed it through a meatgrinder into the mutant industrial noisescapes on this album.

While there are a lot of parallels to conflicts in the middle east, Dune was largely inspired by the Russian empire’s war against the people of the Caucuses that were united by Imam Shamyl in the 1800s. The book The Sabres of Paradise details Shamyl’s life and the conflict and much of the Fremen culture is basically lifted wholesale from it.
