I wanna say the Danish have already jail broken theirs, not saying we should get them and jail brake them just saying it is possible.

I understand the whole Norad interoperability, but I truly agree with your thought.

Canada•Why Alberta’s separation from Canada is almost impossible | About That
21·2 days ago7 of the 10 provinces would have to agree to let Alberta separate. So Alberta would have to sweet talk 2 other provinces.
Then they would have to deal with the treaties and the people that affects would have to agree.
Then they would have to sweet talk the businesses not to leave, I am sure a few oil companies may keep offices there.
Completely doable, simple like a walk in the park! 🤪
I would wish that they never voted.
I went to self hosting things when I started the boycott, and sailing the high seas. I stopped using my ISPs email because they use exchange, I know it is a little to the max but my new domain host offers unlimited email addresses with the package I got so why not drop the Apple hide my email service and use that instead? I get next to no spam, and if I do I can close an email address. I self host a pihole setup with unbound to make me less valuable to advertisers, I am looking at self hosting searXNG, and more. I use ad blockers/tracker blockers for YouTube, I have a gmail account for YouTube and that’s it. I am worthless to advertisers which is priceless to me.
Oh and I use WireGuard so I get all these things away from my LAN as well.

14·2 days agoThe totally not an Epstein distraction war is not going to end because most of NATO tells the US to stop bombing children’s schools.
If I had money I would find ways to cut even more off from US services. I self host most of my things now, I still have my domain hosted but it is with a Canadian provider and a .ca TLD and I made sure they where not using AWS. I sail the high seas for all my media excluding CBC stuff, sonarr and radarr are amazing. I self host my own cloud storage, I want to have it backed up off site but that just means I either need to pay someone for cloud space or have a pi and a hdd running at someone else’s place. If I so wanted I could self host an a non-MS Office suite, maybe my next project? I tried using the self hosted search engine but that will take some work to get where it is useable on my devices. Sadly I was an Apple fan girl so I have Apple things but when they need replacing I will not be going with Apple. I think Canada should do what parts if not all of the EU are doing and ditch US tech, begone with Microslop Windows and Office 365.

10·7 days agoThere is a week every year (maybe 2 don’t remember the study too well) that there is an increase of car accidents and heart attacks when the clocks fall back (or spring forward again don’t remember the study too well). I am glad I live in Saskatchewan where our livestock wouldn’t understand why they are being fed at different times!
As I understand it, when the time zones and time changing was being developed Saskatchewan said no time change “because the cows wouldn’t understand why they were being fed at different times.” So all I can say is here to the livestock!
But seriously different parts of the world and parts of Canada can do without time changes, I understand why Canada likes time zones but time changes are silly. We should really all just follow Europe, I think they all follow one time zone, and all get into GMT and adjust our lives to that. If all the world was one time zone could you imagine how much easier it would be to schedule meetings and the such. Yes I understand I it would be confusing why 9 to 5 would be different, 15:00 to 23:00 (in Saskatchewan). As I understand it China has one time zone as well, of course there are plenty of small counties that only fall into one time zone.

6·7 days agoCame here to say the same thing.
When the whole time zone and DST were being introduced it is my understanding that it was “because the cows wouldn’t understand why they were being fed an hour early or later depending on the time of the year.”
Here is to the livestock for saving people from the week of more car accidents and heart attacks!
