  • I don’t really see the widespread racism you claim exists here, with Lemmy being one of the least racist Western online spaces I’ve ever been in…

And idk what you mean by dead. Compared to what? I feel like I see the same usernames pop up often, because we have a community of regulars. I don’t think I need it to be more “active”, and it certainly beats the more bot-infested “larger” online communities.

Also, if you really dislike the “leftist” population/takes on Lemmy, why don’t you just go back to Reddit? Like, in earnest, they have a lot of uhh “right wing” stances and all big subreddits support the American empire and silence anyone who disagrees. Just make a new account and resettle there, it’ll be more to your liking!

  • I mean, uhh, kinda? But sometimes people have important questions and aren’t just asserting things from ignorance and to stop them from participating would just keep them ignorant which isn’t very prosocial of us. If you want to participate and speak your mind and know almost nothing about the topic, I think the most honest and least annoying way to do so is to give everyone a disclaimer (“I’m very ignorant about this but I feel like…”).

Idk about talking about the Oscars and being interested in movies as a medium. Talking about the Oscars critically would require more knowledge about movies in the sense of “Hollywood is, at least today, just another Western grift”, their reasons for keeping the Oscars relevant and money-laundering schemes, lol.

  • What’s MAFA? Biden was close to Israel, Obama had record drone kills, and ofc Bush has the blood of countless innocents on his hands. Get it together and grow up: America has been a global villain since WW2 (it was a regional one before), it goes beyond party lines, the empire will do what it wants and each both sides of the political spectrum just serve aesthetic and therapeutic purposes for the two American pluralities… but, ofc, democracy is just a pressure valve and narrative creation device, the American empire has been co-opted by the MIC for a long time and now by anational technological corporations, fund management firms and foreign interests, and whether war starts and continues or not has everything to do with their infighting (not ideological, but profit based) and nothing to do with the will of the American people (and a good chunk are bloodthirsty and militaristic enough they’re ready for war regardless).

  • Ooooh. 🤔

Maybe the “subject” as an awareness that experiences the world is two-part (there could perhaps be an awareness without external perception, or they could exist separately). The subjectivity/consciousness plus the acknowledgement that we are distinct from the external we are experiencing create an observer, but I don’t think the consciousness itself is just an emergent property of “existing in the world” that just “comes into being”. And, if there were only one person, would things not still be the same, feel the same? It’s not something that requires consensus, right? Idk how “subjectivity intersecting stabilises reality” if we’re purely speaking of the material, of experiencing physical reality (without including our speculations and understanding of it, ofc, that can be “stabilised through subjectivity”).
