Democracy in the USA is rapidly deteriorating, a study from Sweden reveals. Other democracies are also increasingly at risk, albeit not at this speed

    Duh.

I’ve been buying up guns and ammo for the coming war as Plan B. The other plan is to bail on this country but unfortunately I’m about a year out on that.

Anyone who thinks the midterms will fix things is delusional. Anyone who thinks simply voting will change things at this point is off their rocker. I’m not saying don’t do that, but the entire system is rigged against us and until those in power fear walking out their front door - nothing will change.

You’re more likely to vote your way out than you are to fucking shoot your way out. JHFC you live in a cartoon in your head.

      We. Know.

We all know the writing on the wall about what the regime will do or try to do in, and leading up, to November. It’s more about giving those in our community one last shot at being decent people who want to live in a functioning society. It’s about seeing how many in this country live in abject reality and can admit when their eyes and wallets don’t reflect reality.

We know they will try everything they can to fuck this all in their favor. It’s more a vote to see how many actually want to be human beings anymore. We know those in power are ghouls. But how many of our neighbors pine to be those ghouls, we’ll find out in a few months, I guess.

“For Orbán in Hungary, it took about four years, for Vučić in Serbia, it took eight years, and for Erdoğan in Turkey and Modi in India, it took about 10 years to accomplish the suppression of democratic institutions that Trump has achieved in only one year,” Lindberg says.

US democracy is now back at the worst recorded level since 1965, when US civil rights laws first introduced de facto universal suffrage. All progress made since then has been erased, according to the report.

Worldwide, democracy has receded to its lowest levels since the mid-70s. “The world has never before seen as many countries autocratising at the same time,” Lindberg says.

A record 41% (3.4 billion) of the world’s population currently resides in countries where democracy is deteriorating, the report claims, adding that Washington is leading this global turn away from democracy.
