Lemmy instances aren’t necessarily showing as if you’re not subscribed, so if the strange purge impacted you - you may not be aware of it.

    It (lemmy) still showed me as subscribed but I had to un- and re-subscribe before I would get content again.

    In theory, only one person on the instance would need to do that to resume federation. However, everyone subscribed should unjoin/re-join to be safe in case that one person later unsubscribes since the sending instance would only “know” about that one subscriber otherwise.

      Yeah, basically piefed.social purged half the subscribers due to an unknown fault - but this won’t necessarily change how it looks at your end, if you are subscribed. You will stop getting updates on your subscribed feed but it might still look like you are subscribed.

    It’s shown me as subscribed and I’ve been seeing posts from this sub in my subscribed feed throughout this whole situation ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
