The biggest problem with using AI instead of junior developers is that junior developers eventually become senior developers. LLMs … don’t.

There is no ethical consumption under capitalism. If someone is making some effort, you can’t condemn them for not going all the way, because going all the way is living in the wilderness without even metal tools.

Eh, I really like the hacker mentality that Valve has for their hardware. They just want people to use it, because they know that the best place to get games for the hardware - whether it’s running Linux or Windows - is Steam. And the more people find fun ways to abuse the hardware, the more press it gets, the more people want it, etc. etc. Great for Valve, great for the customers, great for the gaming industry.

Two things.

First, is that - yes, the after looks much more detailed and crisp, but it also looks airbrushed and fake in the way that most AI-generated people look. You get to recognize it fairly quickly if you look for it, and it’s become so ubiquitous that people are getting sick of it.

Second is that it will make EVERY game that uses it look like the same airbrushed and fake people. Yes, there will be some individuality, but it will push each game that uses it closer to the same look and style.

They’ve been told time and time again that these people aren’t innocent, and they’ve been told it so often and so vehemently that they believe it. They have also been told that there is rising crime and it’s because of these very people. They’ve been told a lot of things. They believe it.
